Hustle, often called Latin Hustle or New York Hustle, is a partner dance that emerged in New York City during the disco era of the 1970s. Created by Puerto Rican teenagers in the South Bronx, it was originally danced at house parties, basement gatherings, and local clubs. Hustle shares some characteristics with mambo, salsa, and swing dance, while developing its own unique style, musicality, and social culture.
